This past weekend, August 27-29, I became a Nia 5 Stages Teachers. Nia 5 Stages is a powerful practice, created by Debbie, to realign and self-heal the body. Through imagery, movement and language, this class guides you through five stages based on the natural phases of human development: Embryonic, Creeping, Crawling, Standing and Walking with the intention of seeking and nuturing self healing. Keep an eye open for a Nia 5 Stages class in your neighborhood soon!August: Lululemon Demo in Nob Hill

I found Nia nine years ago, after a friend suggested I 'give it a try'. From the moment I stepped into my first class I knew I'd found something that would feed my desire for joy and pleasure in life and fitness. I have always enjoyed celebrating the body as a place for fitness, fun, expression, exploration and creativity. I bring a calm, supportive energy to my classes which are spirited and filled with my raw curiosity for sharing the benefits and pleasures of The Nia Technique.

About
The Nia Technique simultaneously addresses the body, mind, emotions, and spirit, and puts them on the “same page” using music, movement and personal expression to integrate one’s neurology (including the mind, emotions, and spirit) with one’s outer body, or musculature. To achieve this whole-being integration, Nia addresses the whole person using a comprehensive, holistic exercise approach designed with a combination of nine classic movement forms.
Benefits of Practicing Nia:
- Stimulates pleasure of living in the body
- Supports weight loss
- Increases energy, strength, flexibility, mobility and agility
- Improves circulation and heart health
- Develops grace, power and muscle tone
- Improves posture, balance and stability
