The first of this series of experiential anatomy workshops will introduce you to:

  1. Basic musculoskeletal anatomy of the body’s Base (in Nia that’s legs and feet)

  2. Exploring the anatomy that works to move the moves of the Base

  3. The first 14 Base moves, the foot moves and stances of Nia

  4. “Finger first-aid" and other self-care ideas and inspiration to take home

Together we will examine and experience details of our musculoskeletal anatomy and care through touch, movement, anatomy, and writing that will help deepen your awareness of how you move. This workshop will allow us to take a multi-dimensional approach to becoming pleasure and body literate, keystone concepts of Nia aimed at creating sustainability in your body. This is a great workshop for both new-to-Nia students, long time veteran movers, yogis, and teachers.

Erin Damour,LMT is Black Belt Nia Instructor and therapeutic massage therapist. She has taught Anatomy & Physiology at the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics and has taught Nia in Albuquerque since 2007. Her massage practice focuses on gentle relaxing massage as well as recovery techniques, including sports massage, myofascial release and postural alignment. Erin has a playful approach to human anatomy & physiology, movement, wellness and healing.
