som∂lchemy movement

“Erin gracefully, engagingly, and enthusiastically guides people to move their bodies.”

I love to play and explore being alive through movement and music in my Som∂lchemy Movement classes. Facilitating these gatherings reinforces my belief that we can find wholeness, dynamic ease, relaxation, pleasure and a sense of appreciation for life when we move and dance together. My classes are influenced by over 18 years of teaching the Nia Technique among other things. I am a Certified Nia Black Belt and hold a certificate in Movement for Trauma (Level 1) from Jane Clapp’s Jungian Somatics program.

What affected me most ...

was how beautiful I found all the other people in the class around me. Nia allowed me to appreciate the way of not only my body, but those around me too. It amazed me how easy Nia made it to view the people around me to be neither superior or inferior as dancers or movers in general. I admired rather than envied the movement of my peers. By the end of the year, I perceived the entirety of the class as moving exactly as they should, in a way that was... true to their bodies and to their spirits, and thus beautiful and completely natural.

About Som∂lchemy Movement

…great class today

“…great class today!! You’re experience and intuition around movement and pace was really nice. Thanks for creating space for people to be true to themselves too, because it makes it safer to be free and also allow for real healing and joy!” KL

“I love your class

“I love your class. The only way I can describe it is “JOYFUL”. It’s such a lovely way to move.” CT

Som∂lchemy is an inspiring, grounded, embodied dance fitness practice that provides for safe and effective exercise fused with a hearty dose of play and a sacred deep connection to ourselves and our community.

Som∂lchemy is typically a barefoot movement program designed to increase our awareness of sensation, develop our knowledge base around “body literacy” and using that movement as a path to change and wholeness for ourselves. And we do it to great music!

Facilitating these gatherings reinforces my belief that when we move and dance together we find wholeness, dynamic ease, relaxation, pleasure, awe and a sense of appreciation for living.

I am a certified Black Belt in the Nia Technique™, which I taught for over 17 years. I also hold a certificate of “Movement for Trauma Level 1” from Jane Clapp’s Jungian Somatics program.
